A Call to Arms: Single Sign-On

Achievement unlocked IT Hero! You have successfully completed the first two requirements of your epic question chain. The ignorant are now educated. The defenseless are better equipped for logins, but you would be foolhardy to think they are truly safe. For you know well that the forces of evil will stop at nothing to undermine your heroic efforts.

Let it be known that within the high stone walls of your impenetrable fortress, your end users bask in the comfort of your protection. You have provided them with the conveniences of everyday life making it easy to for them to thrive, but far beyond the safety of your walls the darkness gathers. Hordes of undead amass, roaming the land with an unending hunger. Preying upon those that remain on the outskirts, just beyond the reach of your protection. Yes they are trained well, but not even the mightiest warrior can with stand the strength of the undead forever.

Having your end users login in to all their web apps directly and having them remember different credentials for each, not only leaves them vulnerable to password attacks, but will eventually lead to password fatigue. It is hard to defend one’s self if you become weary from just trying to stay alive. Let’s be honest IT Hero, even one as resourceful as yourself finds it an arduous task to protect, educate, and equip not only yourself but that of the entire realm. Adding another layer of complexity by having to remember a multitude of passwords for their logins is asking too much, even for you.

If you were to take charge and gather these web applications that reside foolishly on the outskirts of your kingdom, and place them within the protection of your stone walls, you will not only provide a safe approach to logins, but allow them to remember only one password.

But how would one accomplish this you ask? It’s simple really, by implementing a solid Single Sign-on solution. By fortifying the castle gates with a Single Sign-on solution, you allow your end users to enter the kingdom securely and easily gain access to all the resources they require to be productive citizens. All this can be accomplished while preventing the persistent horde from breaching the gates.

Once the entirety of the Kingdom’s resources are securely nestled behind your walls, you will be able to truly flourish and then turn your focus to the creature comforts that your entitled end users eventually cry out for!
